Bayou Community Foundation has awarded a $500,000 grant to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux to fund its Hurricane Ida recovery assistance program in Lafourche, Terrebonne and Grand Isle. Bayou Community Foundation Announces $1.29 Million in New Grants for Hurricane Ida Relief and Recovery

$1.8 million in relief and recovery services funded by Foundation to date.

(HOUMA, LA) The Bayou Community Foundation (BCF) announced a second round of grants today totaling $1.29 million to 17 local nonprofits for critical relief and recovery assistance provided to residents of Lafourche Parish, Terrebonne Parish and Grand Isle in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida.

Mary and Al Danos Family Foundation Contribute $1 Million to Bayou Recovery Fund

The Bayou Community Foundation (BCF) and the Mary and Al Danos Family Foundation today announced the family foundation’s gift of $1 million to the Bayou Recovery Fund for Hurricane Ida Relief to support critical relief, recovery and rebuilding services for residents of Lafourche and Terrebonne Parishes. A portion of that gift has been used immediately by BCF to distribute nearly 20,000 gallons of gasoline to south Lafourche and Terrebonne residents to fuel home generators and vehicles. BCF Awards Grant for Local Food Banks

As part of its ongoing efforts to fight hunger in Lafourche and Terrebonne Parishes, the Bayou Community Foundation (BCF) has awarded a $2,000 grant to Second Harvest Food Bank to expand food distribution at two of its partner food pantries in the Bayou Region.

With the grant, Second Harvest has purchased a freezer, refrigerator and shelving for the Catholic Community Center food pantry in Cut Off and the Caritas Food Pantry on the campus of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Houma, which will allow both sites to provide meat, perishable foods and more packaged food items to needy residents.
