BayouGives is Tuesday, April 30!

Bayou Community Foundation invites area residents to “Give Where You Live” on Tuesday, April 30 as part of BayouGives, our new community giving day just for our Bayou Region.

BayouGives is a 24-hour online giving event hosted by Bayou Community Foundation to benefit 67 nonprofits working in Terrebonne, Lafourche and Grand Isle to help our neighbors in need and make our community stronger.

From midnight to midnight on Tuesday, April 30, area residents are encouraged to go online to BayouGives.organd make a gift of $10 or more to one or more of the 67 participating Bayou Region nonprofits. Donors may also give by cash or check directly to a participating nonprofit on April 30. All online and check/cash gifts will be counted toward each nonprofit’s BayouGives total, making them also eligible for cash prizes to enhance their gift total on the giving day.

This year’s BayouGives fundraising goal is $100,000, and every dollar raised stays right here and will be put to work in our community.

“Our Bayou Region is like no other community in the country, and we deserve a special giving day to benefit our own hardworking local nonprofits. BayouGives is OUR day!” explains BCF President Stephen Peltier.  “Bayou Community Foundation invites everyone in Lafourche, Terrbonne and Grand Isle to celebrate the generous spirit of our Bayou Region with gifts to BayouGives on Tuesday, April 30. Show your love for this unique place we call home and give where you live!”

Friends of Bayou Lafourche is one of the BayouGives participating nonprofits.  “We are so excited to participate in BayouGives. All of the money Friends of Bayou Lafourche raises on April 30 will help to build projects that provide recreational opportunities, promote tourism and support local economies along the Bayou,” explains Executive Director Ryan Perque.

Terrebonne Foundation for Academic Excellence is also enthusiastic about the giving day.  “The funds we raise during BayouGives will help us in our mission to support local education. This includes our grant program for Terrebonne Parish public school teachers and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which is a free book program for children ages newborn to five. Both of these programs are much needed in our community and greatly benefit our teachers, students, and young children,” says Executive Director Katie Portier.
