ANCHOR the Bayou is Bayou Community Foundation’s community-lead initiative in coordination with The Water Institute’s Community Resilience Center Catalyst Initiative to build long-term resilience for residents of South Lafourche and South Terrebonne. ANCHOR began with a community needs assessment, listening session and focus groups in 2025 to identify community challenges, assets and resilience opportunities in this precious region.
In the next phase of ANCHOR, this cohort of local residents and community leaders are participating in training to grow their knowledge of local community challenges and assets, boost their leadership and resilience skills, and build strong connections to community organizations and their neighbors. The cohort will also host and participate in community resilience events and help identify and implement pilot project to address resilience strategies identified in the ANCHOR the Bayou Strategic Plan to be released later this month.
