About Round 2 of the Bayou Recovery Fund for COVID-19 Relief Grants Program

Bayou Community Foundation (BCF) is accepting grant requests from qualified 501c3 nonprofit organizations and local government agencies to address critical unmet needs in Lafourche Parish, Terrebonne Parish and Grand Isle, Louisiana resulting from the COVID-19 health and economic crisis.  Application deadline is May 22, 2020.  Read below for additional information and instructions.

Eligible Applicants:

Federally approved tax-exempt nonprofit organizations in good standing serving residents of Lafourche Parish, Terrebonne Parish, and/or Grand Isle are eligible to apply. “Good standing” means that the IRS currently acknowledges the organization as tax exempt and state registration is current.  Local government agencies administering programs directly to residents in Lafourche, Terrebonne and Grand Isle are also eligible to apply.

Eligible Grant Requests:

Grants shall be awarded to support or expand programs that fill critical needs arising from the impacts of the COVID-19 health crisis and local economic downturn, and serve Lafourche, Terrebonne and/or Grand Isle residents. This may include but is not limited to programs such as food and medicine distribution, rent/utility assistance, mental health counseling, health care, and employment assistance.  This is a competitive grants process primarily based on community needs and impact of grant dollars; all requests may not be fulfilled.  Specific funds are available for health care, mental health, medicine in Round 2.

Grants are not intended at this time to fund an organization’s general operating expenses beyond COVID-19 relief and assistance programs.

Grant Application Process:

Applicants are required to submit a completed Bayou Recovery Fund grant application and related attachments – IRS determination letter, w9 and list of Officers/Board of Directors or governing authority – to be considered.

Submitted grant applications must include the grant amount requested, a full description of the new or expanded program to be supported by the grant, a budget for the grant request, and other information.

Round 2 – Deadline for submission of grant application:  Friday, May 22, 2020

Nonprofits that received grants in Round 1 are eligible to re-apply, but must include a report on expenditure of Round 1 grant dollars and explanation of need for additional funds.

Round 2 grant awards are expected to be issued in early June.
